Stylish combs, beautifully carved n the form of flowera and leaves, and nvery dark tints, are inueh worn. French shell combs, in beautiful deligns, are becoming more and more 'ashionable, as the coiffure becomes ower. A pretty travelling bonnet can be nade of black, rougli-and-ready straw, riinmert with black, watered" ribbon uid red roses. It is very stylish, and, withal. modest. The white dresses are much worn Eifternoon and evening, and are prinjipally of two kinds- thin wool, barBge, or gaseline, and dotted muslin, trimmed with Breton lace and ribbons. Pretty English stockings are now very fashionable, of Lisie thread in tcru tints, open-worked vertically, and embroidered with small dots which altérnate in different colors, blue, garnet, brown and black. English ladies are wearing for indoors a long plain dress, something like the "Esma" wrapper. The plain princess dress is also a very good design for ginghams or cambrics for mourning wear, and the "Watteau," set into a square yoke, a very graceful style for a break f ast dress in country houses. TwUled flannel, d&rk ïilnp or Knsnian gray, ia n.o m-st and most serviceable material for bathing dresses, as it does not chili, does not hold water, nor cling to the body so much as other materials. White, black or red braid are the usual trimmings, put on broad and in clusters, or simply as bindings, according to taste. Among tke prettiest dresses prepared for afternoon receptions are foulards with ecru ground, and small olive and blue figures, tiny leaflets, acorns with sterns, and the like. The small design containing several shad.es of olive brown and green, with lines of blue, black, and a deeper shade of yellow to bring out the dark tints. An exquisitejaöot 01 (irepe e umne trimmed witli silk V alenciennes. lt consista of a deep plaited point, edged with Valenciennes, and a coquille of the same lace, ornamented with loops of narrow pale blue gros grain ribbon, and a small bouquet of field riowers with foliage. Another bouquet is placed nearly at the bottom of the pointed end. One of the most popular eombinutions which has been effected this season, consists of a unión oí' platal eotton or woolen materials with plaid or check of different kinds, colors and sizes. The plain dark blues and wine colors are always combined with pluids into which these dark colors inter, and are united with a great deal of gold color of different shades. The paler materials, on the contrary, such as mastics and very light stone color, or ash gray, are combined with checks, made up of pinks and blues, withlines of olive and brown, or black. A novelty in summer toilets consists of a white flounced or trimmed skirt, in thin wool, gauze, and niuslin, and high, sleeveless bodice of dark wine color on ruby silk or satin. The sleeve is of the same material as the bodice, but has a puil at the elbow, of the thin f abric. A necklace made of numerous little chains, with a pendent locket, is worn at the throat, and the saine effect is produced at the wrist by a manystranded liracelet, the sleeve being longer than the ordinary elbow sleeve, but litting close, and allowingthe spaoe upon the wrist necessary for long gloves and ornaments.
