The Greenback Labor central committee of Boston held a regalar meeting Thursday night and uuanimously reolved that in the approaoh' ing State campaign they will support for office none but undoubted Greenbackers. The Massachusetts Kepublican State convention is called for September 16 at Worcester. The Hpccial election held at Fontiac Monday for mayor, to fill the vacaney caused by the resignfttion of Thomas Mabley, resulted in electing Samuel H. Norton over Porter A. Hitchcock by nine majority. The Congreesional labor investigsting committee arrived in Council Bluffs Bunday morning. They spent the day in the city and left Monday for San Francisco over the Union Pacific. Om Wednesday unofficial returns f rom about 50 counties in Kentucky, shuwing about onethird falling off in the aggregate vote, but about the uuual Democratie majority. The Republicana haye made legislativo gains, but the general assembly that two years ago was 114 Democratie on joint ballot, continúes Democratie by over 100.
