Action Of The Committee Upon The New Buildings To Be Erected On The Campus
At the dato set fur the meeting of the building committee to consider bids for the erection of the new buildings on the grounds of the University, regents Eynd, S. 8. Walker, rogent-olect Shearer, President AngelĂ, Sec. Bennett and Professor Jenney met on Thursday evening of last week for consultation. Nearly fifty bids were received, the most of which vrere for special portions of the building, three only for the couiplotion of the museum. Prof. Jenney's plans and specifloations were modifiod so as to finish the museum building within tho figure of $34,000; those of kitohen and dining-room of the Hospital, within $1,000; tha Homeopathie Hospital and Aiuphitheater within ihe sum appropriated. All bids exceeding the sum appropriated were therefore rujected, and tho four lower were invited to present anew by Wednesday next, in accordanoe with the modified plans of Prof. Jenaey. Mr. Beatty of Adriau bid $2,426 for the construction of the amphitheatre for the old hospita), uiid it was aecĂ©pted.' Messrs. Dow & Gardner of this city seoured the contract tor kitchen and di. --g-room at f 1000.
