First official photographs from the isolated University of Michigan launching site on the Keweenaw Peninsula show the ARCAS rocket firing of last Friday as it headed skyward. In front of the launcher is a 75-foot meteorological tower which measures surface level winds. The rocket rose 40 miles, with payload devices measuring temperature and humidity at various altitudes, and fell into Lake Superior.
