Murphy Seeks Venue Change
THU APR 9 1970
A Circuit Court decision is expected in the near future on whether or not to grant James P. Murphy a change of venue for his trial on a slaying charge.
Judge William F. Ager Jr. said yesterday he would issue an opinion on the matter in answer to a motion from Murphy’s attorney, Wayne Miller of Saginaw. At the same time, Ager denied Miller’s motion to reduce the charge from first-degree murder to either second degree murder or manslaughter.
Another motion, to allow Miller to see the evidence against Murphy, was agreed to by Assistant Prosecutor Richard Pierce.
