Fairs Open

As the clouds parted to let the sunshine in, the first of an expected 200,000 art lovers took to the city streets Wednesday.

It was the opening day of the city's summer art fairs and organizers of those events--hosting more than 1,000 artists--said the crowds were steady all day.

The fairs, continuing through Saturday, include: the original Street Art Fair on South and East University Avenues; the State Street Art Fair on Maynard, Liberty, and North University Avenue; and the Summers Art Fair on Main Street and East University.
