Sandwich Shop Opens New Room

A new completed Walnut room will be opened above the Drake Sandwich shop at 709 N. University Ave. from 2 to 5 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. The room is a part of the sandwich shop operated by Mr. and Mrs. Truman A. Tibballs.

Previously to the remodeling of the second floor, the space was an apartment. Booths have been installed along the wall while the center space has been reserved for dancing. The room takes its name from the walnut booths and the walnut panelling on the walls.

The booths have wine leather seats and ivory leather backs. The wall panelling is booth high and the walls above the panelling are papered, with a blue paper having a small white design being used.

The Walnut room can be entered from an exterior first floor door adjacent to the sandwich shop’s main floor or by an interior stairway. The room will be open from 2 to 5 o’clock and 8 to 11 o’clock daily with later hours Friday and Saturday nights. Music will be provided for dancing.
