Slaying Probe Continues

MANCHESTER — Detectives from the Sheriff’s Police are continuing their investigation into the slaying of attorney Peter A. Kensler.

The department reported no new developments in the case today.

“We’re interviewing a lot of people,” a Sheriff’s officer said. “We’re talking to a couple of the deceased man’s close friends. We don’t know where this might lead,” he added.

Kensler, 36, was found shot to death Wednesday afternoon in front of his home at 17750 Sharon Valley Rd., in Sharon Township, outside Manchester.

Sheriff’s officers say the young bachelor lawyer apparently looked out a window and saw his killer approaching his house. They say he slipped on a jacket and went out.

He didn’t get far. Investigators say words may have been exchanged and Kensler turned and started to go back inside. He could have been attempting to flee to safety, they say.

'His visitor leveled a shotgun. A slug ripped through the lawyer’s shoulder, knocking him on his back. Then the killer stalked up to him, aimed the shotgun down at Kensler’s face and pulled the trigger. When the attorney was found Wednesday noon he had been dead for 18 hours, officers estimate.
