Carl W. Jaeger, 40, a lifelong Ann Arbor resident and a Michigan Bell Telephone Co. supervisor, died today at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a four-month illness. He lived at 4110 Dexter Rd. in Scio township.

Mr. Jaeger was born April 26, 1917, the son of Frederick and Augusta Behnke Jaeger. On April 26, 1946, he was married to Dorothy Reimers of Ann Arbor. She survives.

During World War II, Mr. Jaeger served with the U. S. Army in India. He joined the telephone company in 1945 and was employed as assignment supervisor.

Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Martin C. and Eric W., and a daughter, Kristin Mary, all at home; his mother of Ann Arbor; a brother, Fred H. Jaeger, composing room foreman of The Ann Arbor News; three sisters, Mrs. Herbert Eisele of Ann Arbor, Mrs. Conrad Miller of Pelkie, Mich., and Mrs. Ernest Preuss of Manistique, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Monday at the Muehlig Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph B. Piper officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel starting Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Charities of Detroit or to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
