The republican judicial convention, consisting of the counties. of Washienaw and Monroe, was held at the courl-house in this city last Friday. The convention was called to order at 12 o'clock by A. J. Sawyer. J. W. Wing, of Scio, was elected temporary chairman, and J. F. Lawrence. of Aqd Arbor, temporary secretary. On moüon the chair appointed the following committees: Credentials - Frank Emerick, Ann Arbor; W. E. Depew, Chelsea; B. Parker, Monroe. Permanent organization - C. G. Morris, Monroe; W. H. Lay, Ypsilauti town; Nathan Pieree, Lima. The convention then adjourned until 2 o'clock when the followïng permanent officers were reported and unanimously elected: President, Jas. McMahon, of Ann Arbor; secretary, J. R. Wing, of Monroe. The chairman of the committee on credentials reported the FOLLOWING DELEGATEB eutitled to seats in the conrention: Monroe county - J. D. lïonan, Burton Parker, O. A. Crilchett, C. ö. Morris, S. C. Kandall, Moses J. Howe, H. C. McLachliu, 1. K. Grosvernor, E. H. Keynolds, Ja?. H. Murpüy, Henrv Walting, Al bei t Bond, Geo. Doty. Washtenaw county - Jas. B. Gott, Jas' W. Wing, M. F. Case, J. W. Blakesley, VVm. H. Lay, Miltoh Reynolds, S. W. Carpenler, Watson Barr, Frank Emerick, J. F. Lawrence, Jas. McMahon, Geo. S. Wheeler, T. B. 3oodspeed, Jno. C. Mead, Jas. T. Honey, Nathau Piercu, Win. E. Depew, Kobt. Glenn, A. F. Freeman, Jay Everett. On motion of a delégate f rom Monroe it was moved to proceed to nomínate a candidate f or circuit judge. J. F. Lawreuce, ia a few well cuosen words pesented the name of Rufus JS. Phiuney, of Mouroe, which was seconded by J. D. Rohan, A. W. Hamilton, and J. W. Wing. At this point Nathan Pierce read a dispatch from Mr. Piiinney, that be could not accept the nomiuation. Burt Parker, of Dundee, was confldent he would accept and on motion of F. Emerick, U. E. Phinney was declaied the unanimous nominee of the convention. JUDICIAL COMMtTTEE. The chairman appointed the following judicial committee: J. F. Lxwrence, W. E. Depew, A. J. Sawyer, J. D. Ronan, Seth O. Randall. THE LATEST. Although a great presure was bronght to bear on Mr. Phinney ,he would not accept the nomination, and the judicial committee substituteü the name ot O. E. Critchett, of Monroe.
