Sahara Sea
of Paris Las approved the scheme of De Lesseps for cntting a canal through the neck of land dividing the Gulf of Gabes from the salt rnarshes and low lying paths of the desert of Sahara to the south of Tunis. It is expected that the sea will in virtue of this cutting once more flll up the Sahara. The political advantage to be obtained by the scheme will be the insulation of Tunis and Algeria by creating a war barrier between them and Tripoli.
