The following preamble and resolution were unanimously adopted by the couucil Monday night and a special electiou will thercfore be held on Wednesday, May 17, to vote upon a project of raising $10,000 for tbe erection of an engine house: It haring becoine apparent that the Fireman's Hall of Ann Arbor is ín such a state of dilapidation that it cannot be repaired without large expense, and the apparatus connected therewith being in great danger of permanent injury on account of the unsuitable character of the building in which they are contained ; and conrenience seeming to demand a suitable building in which notonly the flre department may hare safe and conrenient quarters, but also that a suitable place may be prorided for storing the records and other property of the city. Resolved, That a meeting of the property tax payers of Ann Arbor who are elector of said city be called for the 17th day of May, 1882 to meet on said day at the Fireman 's Hall in the Fourth ward in said city to determine whether the sum of $10,000 shall be raised by tax upon taxable property in said city to be expended in the present site of the Fireman's Hall, to be used as an engine house and for city purposes; that said meeting or special election open at 9 o'clock a. m., and close at 4 o'clock p. m., of said day and that at such meeting the said electors vote on said question by ballot.
