This week we are called upon to chronicle the death of Samuel R. Doty, who died Wednesday in this city, aged 82 years. He was bom at Rensselaerville, N. Y. His father, Wm. Doty, was an old resident of that locality, but a native of Conneticut. His grandfather fought in the war of the revolution in which he was an ofücer. Mr. Dofcy was educated in the common schools of that time. When he grew to manhood he went to Chenango and Magsra counties, N. Y., in both of which he dwelt for a time. In 1836 he carne to Michigan and located in the township of Pittsfleld in this county. Two years later he moved on a fwm two miles from this city on the Dexter road, where he started a brick yard and was engaged in the manufacture of brick and tile until 1872. In politics he was an old-line whig until the formation of the republican party, when he united with that party. Some two years ago his residence was destroyed by flre, and being in feeble health, he was brought to this place, where he resided at the time of his death. The funeral will be held this afternoon.
