The March meeting of the board ( f al !ermen was held in the council chamber Jlonday evening, and the following business transacted : A petition signed by J. J. Ellis and 12 others in f ivor of allowing the Mi' higan Central the right of wny to lay a tmck along the northwest side of Pontiac and Broadway-sts., to a point opposite the Ann Arbor agncultural Co , was read and the petition granted. The services of the new union hook andladler company, on the recomendation of chief engineer Seabolt, wereformerly accepted. Amounts distributed in the different wards for providingfortheindigentpoor tor Februarv : First, $36.88; second, $15.27; third, 80.68; fourtb, $53.33; fifih, $42.88. The recorder reported the following blances on hand: Contingent fund, $7,943,52; gener .1 fund, $1,442,08; general street, $246,77; first ward, $955,53; second, $1,104,88; tbird, 8212.32; fourtb, $299,83; fifth, $181,18; feixtb, $87,47; city cemetery, $20. 97; dog tax, $100; flremens fund, $19.99. Solar time was re-adopted as the official time of the city. The committee on flredepartment was in8tructed to procure a stove for the ïxth ward engine house. The following places were selcted for ïolding the eleciions in April next: First wa d, G. Hermnn's shop; seconl wird, ïerz's shop; third ward, court house; 'ourth vard, ei y hall bui ding; fifth ward, engine honse; sixth ward, engine louse. The resorder's annual report was ordei - d piinted in The Democrat, and the legister. Tbe board of regiRtrition organized by lecting Aid. Martin, chairman, and Aid. Gates, geeretary, und the following regstration pbices were designated: First ward, Herman's 'shop; second ward, J. ieinzmann's store; third ward, court ïouse; fourth ward, city engine house; fth ward, engine house; sixth ward, enin e house. The foliowing ordinanoe was also dopted: No person or persons shall eep witbin the hmits of this city, naplia, benzine, gasoline or other like i i.unable goods to au amouut exceeding ive gallons, except in such place or jlaces as shall be designated by the chief Dgineer of the lire department.
