All that was lacking to make tüe fair a grand succesB was a crowd. The exhi)ition itself was thu best ever seen at a fair in this county without an exception The liret two days it rained and a threatened rain the third day which was cold and misty, kept many farmeis away. A nttmber of our business men had their goods on exhibition, although in sonie classes tiiey did not expect a premium. In tioral hall a Demockat reporter no ticed a magniüoent silk and embmiden d spread, the work of Airs. W. A. H.tch, Jr. Albert Sorg made a fine display of several handsonie designs m wall paper, tapeetry, ourtains. trimmings, etc. ihefirmof fcSeyler & Josenhans, boot and sboe dealers, exhibited a show case of ladies and misses fiue shoes. As usual A. Wilsey and D, F. Almendinger were on hand with u number of iineorgans. Prof. Wiluey anl Mr. Malory cnhvened each diy with spirited songs, which the people seemed to very muoh enjoy. ín stoves and r.mges Schuh &■ Muohlig and Eberbach & Son took the cake. Henry Krause, fearful that those who exumined his goods, which eonsisted of boots and shoes, did not know his politics had placed in his sliow case Bliüne and Logan lithographs. Some persons thought it very poor taste indeed. C'ousins & Hall, the fiorists, had a pyramia of rlowers rumiing nearly to the top of floral hall, which was very attractive. Messrs. Pall & Heiidricks made the finest display of clothing and gents furnishing gnods probably ever seen ut a Waslitena county fair. 'l'hey received two first premiums J. Keck & Co. exhibited tapestry, curtams and carpets. John Finnegan and Sam McLaren were the only exbibitors of agricultural UUUWjUKUJGB. O. O, Sorg, solé agent for Sherwin, Williams & Oo's. paints, (which have been having quite a sale the past season) showed some 40 different samples. The exhibition of horses, cattle, sheep and swine was pronounced by everybody to be a little ahead of anything seen in this viciuity for many a year Daily papers wc re furnished on the groun .8 by Wiílis Boughton, froui liin news stand, wh'ch was presided over by Prof. Haley. There was an article of furaiture whieh attracted particular attention It was an inluid book case or secretary manufactureil by Jumes Ragan.in whichthouauds of s nal] blooks of wood were used in i s construction. This gentleman also had on exhibition a tooi chest made like the üeceetary of different varieties of wood rtllinlaid. The young men who had entire management of the fiir are deserving of great praise in getting up so snceessful an exhitdtion. Had the weather been favorable the fair would have been a success finaneially, as it is the receipts will just about pay expenses.
