Fast skating will no more be tolerated. Mr. and Mre. J. E. Wyman were in the city the latter part of last week. Master Lawrence Sweeney gives an exhibition at Ypsilanti this evening. The Chequarnegons led the grand maren very ably, on Saturday evening. J. C. Barney, editor of the Detroit Princesa, was in the city last Friday and Saturday. A few lights along the wall are treatly needed. Spectators now can ïardly see the skaters A pleasing novelty was introduced, Satuday evening, by the Bubstitution of an orchestra for the usual band. It is scientifically estimated that, if all ihe "champion" roller Bkaters in America should stand up in a row, there wouldn't je people enough left to count them. This evening Hartmann, law '85, will walk one mile against an unknown skater's tvo. Mr. Hartmann holds the championship of the nniversity as a walker. A large number of Ann Arborites went to Ypsilanti, Tuesday evening, to witness the 5-mile race between Lockwood and Ward, and also the fancy skating by McWhorter of Detroit. Master Lawrence Sweeney, on Saturday evening, gave one of the flnest exhibitions ever witnessed here. All his many movements and tricks oalled forth hearty applause from the large audience assembled. Especially commendable were the feats performed by him while usiug only the front rollers of his skates. The second masquerade carnival was not as succeesful as the first one as regards attendance, as well as elegance ol costumes. Very few pretty costumes were seen and none were riek. The prizes were awarded as follows: Season ticket to lady and gent for most elegant costumes. Miss Florence Fostcr and Ernest Lewis ; 50 admission tickets to lady and 25 to gent, for most comical costumes, Miss Oceana Billinghurst and Master Will Beatty; one pair of club skats to Will Hollands for finest mili tary costume ; 25 admission tickets to Miss Nettie Gregg for the best calicó costume. A special feature was the parade by the salvation army- 25 strong.
