The following is the report of the ommittee appointed by the common ouncil to take into eongideration the roposition of the Michigan Central ailruad company for bridging Detroit reet. The committee first organized by lecting Mayor Kapp chairman and J. 3. Davis secretary. The following leter was presented for the consideraron ' the committee: Ann Abbob, Feb. 13, 1886. 'o the committee on Rtation buildings for the Michigan Central railway. Gentlemen: I propose for the Michigan Central ailway to erect a new station at Ann rbor as per plans submitted in connec:ion with an over-head crossing at Pon;iac and Detroit streets, on the followuh tormo. The city of Ann Arbor to close State ;reet from Fuller atreet to the north de of the railroad ■ right of way of the L C. K. B. and Page street, between uller street and Broadway, and change he grade of Detroit and Pontiac streets o as to permit an over-head bridge with pproaches of the same grade as the Pontiac and Detroit street hill jast beow Fuller street, and pay the AI. J. R. R. Co. $6,000. The M. C. R. R. Co , to erect a station t a coHt ( f Jr-20,000; to rudo the apapaches) to the bridge and erect the iridge with wooden spans - said aproaehes to be 24 feet wide for the roadway and six feet wide for the sidewalk. .lso to open and maintain in good conition a roadway and sidewalk from tate street to the station. Said bridge ;o have a tight, high fcnce on each side; idewalks to have a hand-rail along their UtSlde and tile oppunito side of the Ei ml :i.v to have a strong gaard fence along it. 'he sewer pipe now running under the racks of the railroad to be extended so s not to obstruct the flow of water. The propoeition is signed b J. D. Hawks, chief engineer of the Michigan Central road. The above is the proposition of the company, and it remains for our citizens to say whether they will give the $5,000 to ensure the success of the enterpnse. The meeting to consider this matter will be held at the court house next Wédnésday, March 17, at 12 o'clock noon. There should be a large attendunce of citizens, for the question for consideration is an important one.
