In response to cali for a oitizena' meeting there was a large attendance at Firemen's hall, Wednesday evening, of gentlemen of different political beliefa, wbo seemed determined on one thing, and that was tbat tüe laws should be en forced. With tbis end in view it is pro pose-d to nominale a citizens' ticket. The meeting was oalled to order by Dr. S. H. Douglasa. Robt. Campbell was eleoted cbairman and Prof. Spaulding secretary. ïhe objects of the cali were present ed by Prof. H. W. Hogers, who said that the city officials, one and all, connived against the enforcement of the city ordinances (a pretty broad assertion) and tbat it was high time that the citizeu8 of Ann Arbor arise in their might and elect men, irrespective of party, who could be depended upon to do their duty. He was followed by W. K. Childs, Prof. Steere, 1_. Cramer, Dr. Kyder, Rev. Mr. Ramsey, Dr. Haskell, and C. H Maní). A oommittee consisting of Dr S. H. Douglass, R. Oundert, G. Doig H. J. Brown, O. A. Weeks and G. A Douglass were appointed to nomínate a committee of thirty, flve from eacli ward for the purpose of naming a ticket, to be reported on at an adjourned meeting to be held next Wednesday evening. There is no disputing the fact that a citizens ticket will be nominated, and i the n;;ht kind of men are selected the; will make it hot for both of the old par ties, with the chances, however, in favo of the demócrata. VVith such a feeling as now exist8 it will be well for the den ocratio city convention to make no mis takes if they would carry the day. W believe that if the convention - which i tobe lieM-tbe,iY$r.j momi-nt in th afternoon - only acts "wieely, 'the democrats will carry the city.
