Th vote Monday muit convince th average "citizen" that the people of Ann Arbor are not quito preparad to turn over the oity government to a lot ot hotheaded professors in the university, or high school, for that matter. This place has always been noted for good order. There is no city in the state where the laws are better enforced. Occasionally a saloon man is arrested and punished for violating the ordinances, but as a rule they are la w-abiding citizens . There is no place in Michigan where a lady oan walk the streets with lesa fear of insult, than this, and yet the impression hñA COTIA nlirrofi fliot Ati Arbor a u awful place. Professors in the uuivereity and a few "citizens" who have nothing else to do but flnd fault, are to-day alone responsable for whatever bad name this city has. The circular mailed by the "citizens' committee," previous to the election, should have been suppreesed for its obscenity. The talk that Ann Arbor is a bad plaee, can be lid at the door of such men as Beman, Spaulding, Rogers, Spence and Wilmot. By their persistency in perverting facts they have brought reproach to the good name of our city. Others connected with them in their frantic efforts of "reform," hav deliberately lied in public and through certaiii uewpapere, and tho ovy bas #ona forth that the "Athens of the West" is a Sodom and Qomorrah. The terribl rebuke that these self styled interpraters of "the demande of the city n the oom ■pring election," received on the flfth of AFill, al tuo bUtoHmq iiiuuia uo a 100son to them. If they can say nothing good, they should hereafter hold their peace. The way to "boom" the oity is for all to work in harmony, not for a few individuals to cause a false impression to go out that " the laws are placed at defiance, and that the city officials connive togethar for this end," for it is a lie, lie, he!
