Considerable excitenient has been oreated by a talse statement that forty señora of the nnivereity law departmeut were " plucked " before me April 24tb , ast. The faot is tüe forty studente were txamined largely on maritime law and ittle on other subjecte, and at 10 p. m. I adjourned the further examination for a week. And on May 3d I examined suoh tudents in open court for three honra ind was so well satisfled that I admittcd ;he whole forty. Since the iirst olass that departed wenty-flve yeare ago, I have been one f the oommittees who examined stulents, or on the bench at nearly all of uch examiaations, and I can unnesitatngly say the flfty-five students I have ïad examined before me this year have hown as thorough training and stndy f law as any class I have ever seen in his court.
