The steamer Oconto of the Northern transportation company's line struck a rock at Fisher's Landing, on the St. Lawrenoe river, on the Tth inst., and sunk. She was loaded with 5O0.OC0 feet of lumber. The passongers, uumboring ftfteen, and her crew of twenty-eight persons, were taken off in life-boats and wül be cared for at l'islier's Landing. The stciimer was making her initial trip betwcen Cleveland and Alexandria Bay. The venture would have beeu a success, as several cargoes were engaged for future tnjis. She was owned by R. Vanslvke of Detroit, and was valued at S'Ü.OOÖ; the amount of the insurance is $15,000. A dispatch from the sceno of the wreek says that her cargo was worth $::00.000, and consisted of silks and other dry goods.
