The Kev. Wm. S. Howlnnd, missionary of the American board of commissioners for foreign missioni in Madura, India, died of fever at .-Miburndule, Mass., on the fcth inst., forty-two hours aftor the death of his wife froni pleuro-jmeumonia. Mr. Howlaud was the elde t oí bix sons of the Kev. W, V'. Howland, for forty years a missionary in Ceylon. He was bom in Ceylon in 1846. He had been a niisionary in India for thirteeu years and had been very successful.
