New Divorce Law

Representativo Herrington is receiving credit on all sides for introduoing a bilí that will doubt-less become a law and a work much needed reform in the divorce business. The bilí provides the flrst requÍBite for being legally pnt asunder shall be a residence of two years in Michigan, uniese the parties were married m this state; also the parties shall not have cohabited for a period of one year bef ore bringing the action. This is an extremely important provisión, masmuch as it gives plenty of time for re con Mulera t ion befo re actual divorce is granted. As the law now stands, persons can go into oourt within twentyfour bours from the time they first disagree. The bilí has a strong clause against collusion, and in case testimony is taken before a commissioner or notary public the question shall be asked each witness if he has knowlerige of any faot whioh would tend to weaken the oause of the claiment. In case there are children under 14 years, it shall be the duty of solioitor for complainant to give 1 tice to prosecuting attorney of all proceedings in order that he may proteot the interests of children. - Bill Poster .
