A valuable brood mare belonging to tho stock farmof Norman Barnarcl. near Avondale, Pa., broke her leg reeeutly, and l)r. Ewin of West Grove set the broker liinb and left it in good condition. In the animal's plunges afterwardsthe leg was ngaln broken and Dr. Hlndekorfer f the nnlversity of Pennsylvania having boen sent for, advised amputation. Tliin was done and the animal is said to be doing well. This is the first case on record oí such an operation in America.
