The iiational legislativa committee of tlie knight of labor have submitted t(i the general executive board a report of their ; lalu f during the short session of 1 1 1 o tortyolnth congress. Tlie lettercarrier's elghthour bilí, saya the report, was antagonlzed by Mr. Springer In favor of a Wil known as the trade dollar bill - a bilí in the Interest oí Bpeculators. The letter carrier 's bill would put Into tlie pockets of lettercarriers, in the shape of reduced liours of labor, so the postoffice departmeut claimed, 81,360,000. The passage of the trade dollar bill actually put into the pockets of speculators $4.000,000, every dollars of whlch was filelied f rom the pockets of the POOT by tlie law that demonetized it. The report gives au account of the niany attempts made by Kepresentative Willis to get the Blair edueational bill before the house and continúes: Mr. Willis Introdnced a resolotlon to relieve the committee on education trom furlher conslderatlon of the bilí by a privileged question to aniend the rules of the house, but he was ruled out of order by the speaker pro tempore, Mr. Springer, and in an umlerlianded manner, in the opinión of the committee. Mr. Willis witlidrew his motioii with the reinark that he would renew t w hen the regular speaker was in the chalr, whlch he did on the i-i th, only to be antagonlzed by M.r. springer with points of order, lt is the opinión of the friemls of the measure that the comiüittee on education was packed against the bill by the speaker. The inter-state commerce law next recclvés the atlentlon of the committee, and they polnt out that in their opinión tlie Reagan Wil was a measure calculated to sere the country, and that the present measure is practically i fallare on account of the doubtful Interpretatlon of tlie law. The report crltlcises Mr. liandall, Mr. Morrison and Mr. Carlisle for their fallare as the "steering" eomniitlee to secure the consideraron oí nieasures in whlch the knights of labor are interested.
