Bui-ning üil. Tliero is greut exeitument among olí and gas operators in Toleao, Ohio, over tbe reports of an immense oil conflagration in the Wood county oil fieldt. Tlie lire was eaused by un explosión in Parker well No. 1, the greatout oil well in the world, a well that has beon uncoutrollable for days and which flows 10,000 barrels every twenty-four hours. The oil caught íire from the engine and rapidly spread to the other derricks and tanks. In the oil fieid whicli surrounds Cygnet, a little village thirty miles south of Toledo on the Toledo, Colunibus & Southern rail. road, are laige pools oí petroleum and the creeks and rivera are íull of oil. This only added f nul to the ñames. The bcene was doscribed by an eye wit ness as most tlirüling, grand and magnili cent. At the timo of the explosión with out warning a column of blue fiame and gmoke shot up into the air at least 1,000 feet and exteuding over acres of ground. The heat wan so intense that it was im possiblH to' approach nearer than half a mile. It coala b plainly íelt two miles away. The bight of the burning well was visible In Toledo, thirty miles distant. Thedamage will run tip to hundreds of thousands of dollars. One of the drillers, Gaorge Johnson, vus toiight in a whirlwind of ■mokt, oil nnd I ame and was so badly burned tbat no Lopes are entertained for his recovery. Otuer drillers are missing and it is feured thy have perished in the flamea.
