Dr. Edwin S. Dunster, who died at his residence in this city, May 3d, was bom at Springvale, Maine, in 1834. He was a gradúate of Harvard university, and received his medical education at Dartmouth and the New York college of medicine and surgery, graduating from the latter institution in 1859. Dr. Dunster had held various prominent positions during his lifetima. He was aasistant surgeon in the union army, was appointed medical inspector by Gen. Kosencraus, and before his resignatioo in 186fi, had ben promoted to the grade of (uil surgeon. In 1873 he was appointed to the chair of obstetrics in the university of Michigan, which poBition he held to the timeof his death. He was an interesting and pleasant leoturer, was lored by the students of all departments and although he liad been in poor health for mauy months continued his work in the university up to a few weeks ago. Tha funeral took place Monday afternoon at the Congregational churcu and was largely attended. The university senate and the medical sludenta attended in a body. Dr. Dunster leaves a wife and three daughters . One of the saddest deaths duriug tb past week was that of Jennie, wifa of E. O. Hall. who died at the residence of C. T. Henion, corner of Fifth and William streets, last Siiumlay. She was but 20 years oíd and left a child only one week old. Mr. Hall is a memberof the senior law class, and much sympathy i feit for him among his classmatss. The remains were taken to her former, home, Hooperton, 111., on Saturday. Mrs. Sarah A. Vandrwarker, widow of the late Jacob Vanderwarker, and an old pioneer of this city, died Sunday, May 6tb, of paralysis. She laavss three children, Mrs. Herman Krapf and Frank Vanderwarker, of this city, and Mis. Dr. Warren of Müford, Mioh. Mrs. Alice Courtaey died Tuesday, ged 75 years, of cáncer. Mrs. Courtney was bom in Sligo county, Ireland, and had resided in Washtenaw county 54 yar. The funeral was held this morning at St. Thomas' church. James Kennedy, one of the oldest residents of Nortbfíeld township died last Friday, aged 88 years, of cáncer. The funeral was held Monday in Northfield. Elizabeth C. Jedele, wife of Joseph ■Tedele, a prominent Lodi f armar, died on Wadnesday morning, aged 72 years. Mra. Phoebe Martin, mother of O. M. Martin of this city, and of lien Martin, of Bay City, died yesterday.
