Hoxie, Kan., June 23. - The courthouse of Sherldan county, In thls place, was bumed to the ground and all rf the records of the register of deeds and eounty treasurer destroyod. The safes had been both opened and the records taken out and piled on the Hoor, opeued up, some on their faces, others on tlieir backs, and some on etlge, placetl in such a manner that they would snre to be destroyed. There was $SÜO in tho treasurer's safe, which ís gone, all of June 19 and 20 taxes. The county clork's safe was not touched and his records were saved. It wlll cost Sheridan county about $20,000 to repair the loss and put the records where they were. No clew has been found to the perpetrators of the deed and excitement is high.
