The temple of Boerodoader is one o the largest of the ancicnt temples ia Java. These temples consist of vas masses of sculptured stone, built on enormous mounds covering sometlmes two or three acres of ground. The; are built terrace upon terrace, wit) stone passages running round the en tire structure.which is conical in shape The walls of these passages are a. mase of extraordlnary sculpture whose subject Is often oí a very indecent character. The stones themselves are o: immense slze and the whole is in a wonderful state of preservation. The age of these Mahommedan monuments is estlmated at 1,200 years anc their gigantlc construction is ascribed to lmmigrants from India and Ceylon Huge statues of stone, mostly headless. adorn the corners and pinnacles of the temples, to which there is no lnterloi beyond a few small relia. - Westminster Review.
