W. W. Wedemeyer of this city has been appointed Deputy Railroad Commissioner for this state. This is a tnucb sought for position, and a great honor, cially as it ome without solicitationouthepartof Mr Wedemeyer. It isa very responsible position. and Mr. Wedemeyer is probabiy the youngest man who will be appointed to so important a plce. Those who know him best, though, are satisfied that hewill lili the place with credit to himself and the state. Mr. Wedemeyer has been a faithful supporter of Gov. Pmgree throughout the entire campaign, led his nomination before the convention in a rousiog speech, and bas uph'eld hiiu with abilitv and visor on all occasions. Gov. Pingree, who has a reputation for standing by his friends, bas now ahown bis fnendsbip iu asubstantial way. Mr. Wedemeyer bas been wonderfully successful ever since he entered politics, and he has undoubtedly a brilliant career before him.
