Somebody must have been watcliing the boys at the post office draw their pay last Saturday, and hankered after a share of it without the trouble of tramping the streets for thirty days with a big pack of mail. They tried to j break into Will Uaxter's house" but was frightened away. James O'Kane had more trouble. Mr. Ü'Kane lives out in the suburbs, and when nearing his house he was struck over the neck and shoulders by some person who came upon him from behind. Luckily he was nol. knocked 6?ear down, but turning aronnd the fellow statted to run, for James knows everybody in town, and the assaulter evidently feared he woulcl be recognized. "Whether or not he will be afraid to draw his pay next month remains to be seen, but we are confldent he will look around for the man who walks up bthind him after clark.
