At the Council meeting Monday 1 evening the committee on revising the charter gave its report, suggesiing i among others the following changes: Tliat the mayor be elected for two years instead of one; that. an office of poor master with a salary of $150 per year be created instead of leaving this matter in charge of the marshall; that the sewer tax be made pavable in four equal annual payments, the iirst to be paid when the sewer iscompleted; that the clerk's salary be raised from SOCO to a sum not exceeding $800. All of which was voted down, and the charter wil] remain as it is. The chief recommended that three new horses be purchased for the use of the tire depart inent i n place of the three now possessed. This also was voted down. ï he election of Frank Joslyn as Justice of the Peace for the east side, was coniirmed.
