Thebeautiful new Germán Bethlehem nhurch on S. Fourth ave . tyas erowded Sunday evening by the friends of tlie Young Men'a ('hristian Assoeiation, who came to attend the third anniversary exercises. Kev. Dr. McElroy of the First M. E. church delivered the address, a strong impressive talk. Ilis subject was ''Foundations of Sapphire," and showed the essentials of a strong manly character in a most attractive manner. J)r. McElroy showed that he knows young men, and is in touch and sympathy with them; and his address made ft strong impression on the large audience. The clioir of the church assisted by Mr. Jonathan Stanger and M aster Fr'eddy Daly furnished the imi sic. Kev, John Xêumann, the pastor of Bethlehem church added a few vvords in Germán. The Y. M. C. A. is daily taking a stronger hold apon the people of this city. The work is being carried on quietly and persistently. and the peóple are seeing and appreciating it more and more. It is earnestly hoped that the Association may be able 'n the not far distant future to ereet a building suitable for its neeis. Their jiresent aim and hope is toraise a fund sutlicient to purchase the site. Bear them in mind when you have any money to give. Their work is right here for our boys, and counts directly for the good of our city by the inttuence it exerts upon those boys. The board of directors met at the home of President Wagner, Tuesday evening. The principal business wa's the canvassing of the general secretary question. Several applicants are under consideration, but no appointment was made. Richard Flynn was appointed temporary secretary pending permanent appointment. A number of new games have been added to the rooms during the' past month. The next number in the Lyceum Course is the famous Jiell Kingers, Feb. 23d. üon't forget the date, they are the star attraction of the year.
