Lexington, Ky., has a citizen who must be trying to beat tbo record of Barou Munchansen. His name is Jerome B. Frazier, and hero is a sample of his souring fancy taken from the Lexington Argouauf: "I anr very fond of domestic animáis and fowlfl and the possessor of a fine, intelligent fox terrier, who answers to the name of Fanny. I attended a sale Borne months ago and bouglit a Poland ; duck. I brought her home and put her amoug the other poultry in the yard. In a few days I noticed that Fanny and Miss Poland were on good terms with each other, and in a few weeks they were inseparable. Finally Miss Poland ; thought she had loafed long enough and went to sitting. Fanny made regular visits to her and seemed to takc great interest in the proceeding. The duck rarely left lier nest. Af ter sitting f or about a week she sickened and died. Fanny seemed almost heartbroken over the untimely death of her friend. The evening of her death I missed Fanny from her aecustomed place in the yard and began a seardh f or her. I f ound her in the duck's nest with the eggs underneath her. The next morning I visited the poultry house and f ound Fanny still covering 'the eggs. I eoncluded not to disturb her, but await results. This continued for some weeks, and at the end of the usual time allowed for incubation I found that six lively little ducks had become citizens of the poultry yard. Fanny seemed very proud of her suecess as an incubator. The little ducks f ollowed her and seemed to know no difference between Fanny and a baniyard fowl. The strangest part of this story yet remains tobe told. .Fanny is a remarkablo ratter, and these little ducks developed into the finest rat killers that I ever saw. I am willing to match these six ducks against six terriërs for from $100 to $1,000 a side in a rat kiiling contest, and I will win the match."
