Harrisburg, Feb. 3.- Fire broke out at 1 o'clock in the senate wing of th state capĂ­tol and at 1:30 the building seemed to be doomed, as the flre department was unable to control the flames. The fire originated in the rooms of Lieutenant Governor Walter Lyon, over the senate chamber. It is supposed to have been started by an electric light wlre. The fire burned for several minutes before it was dlscovered. It had such i headway that little could be saved in the costly apartments of the lieutenant governor or across the hall in the rooms I of the Superintendent of Public Instruction Schaffer, who was alone in his of fice when the fire was discovered. The big building was finally totally destroyed. The loss is placed at 000,000; insurance, $400,000. The loss of I valuable records is great. They can 1 never be replaced.
