New York, April 14.- A conference or the board of control and a number of presidents of the trunk lines and the board of managers of the Joint Traffic association was held in this city yesterday. Ex-Senator Edmunds, E. J. Phelps and James C. Carter, all of whom are counsel for the association, were present and gave their opinión, after going over the ground carefully, as to the legality of the association. All were agreed that the association is legal and ought to win its case before the court. The following resolution was adopted: "Resolved, That after hearing the opinión of counsel and acting under their adviceas to the validityof our articlesof nssociation and the conduct of our iness under it, pending the final decisión by the supreme court, we, the members of the assoeiation, believingr that under our agreement we are acting in the public interests, that we are conserving and protecting the interstate commerce of the country from demoralization fatal to legitimate business and its prosperity, and that we are carrying out and enforcing the letter and spirit of the interstate commerce act, hereby pledge ourselves to maintain and carry out the provisions of the articles of organization of the Joint Trafïic assoeiation."
