Burned Clay

A wrlter in the Davenport (Ia. ) Leader advocates bumed clay as a road material. He says that he has seeii a railrond track "ballasted" with the clay simply put on like ashes, and tho snrfaco was so hard that it was impossible to force oue's heel into it. It seems, he adds, a simple solutiou of the road material problem, good and cheap.
