The June Festival
The lltta annual June festival of the St. Thomas' Conservatory. of Music was both an artistic and a financial suceess and reflects great credit upon both teachers and pupils. The entertainment throughout was of a high order of excellence. The flrst part of the program was made up musical numbers and character drills by bands of costumed children,'Who marched and danced the intricate evolutions of the drill with the grace and precisión of professionals. The son9 of Erin, dairy maids, junior sportsmen, mountaineers. knights and sailors followed in their turn in quick succession. "Joan of Are," a drama in six scènes, formed the second part of the program. The leading characters were taken by Miss Lizzie Fitchel, May E. Clarken and Rose Seery. Miss Fitchel played the leading role and played it well. The striking scènes in the life of the celebrated Frenen heroïne from her pleasant childhood through triumph and def eat to the prison and the stake were portrayed in act and tableau with artistic skill and dramatic effect.
