Amos Whiteman, the preacher horse thief sent up from this county two years ago, completed his sentence Sunday, and when he stepped from prison he found six deputies from as many different sections of Indiana, Ohio and Illinois va;ting- for him. Deputy Sheriff Walker, ui Darke county, O., got him and took him home. Whiteman is about 55 years of ag-e, is a pious-looking feilowand passed as an evangelist. He would go to different farm communities to preach and A spot the flnest horses of his congregation. His accomplices would follow his instruetions and get them. They would be bleached and bobbed and sold in Chicago.
