The board ís of the opinión that if the extravagant use of water is continned rhat the city will have to look elsewñere for a greater supply. Second: It is a well known fact that tliis departmertt bas never paid expenses, as each year more or less bilis on the water works fr.nd aro for the want of funds in this departmeut paid out of the contingent fund. Therefore tlhe board deemed it unadvisable to furnish water for any more fountains but would rather see the supply of water for public fountains, watering ti-oug'hs, etc, be restricted. The motter was referred back to the board for two weeks in order to give the Normal people an opportunity or a chance io mane a statement as to what tliey iiitend doing. Not, however, was this done before a kiek was registered f rom Aid. Moore, who wanted report of the board adopted forthwith. Aid. Schaffer stated tihat the Normal college, wa continually asking the city for something and that it was about time to cali a halt. Th-it the University did not ask Ann Arbor to do such things. Aid. Gaudy responded that it was just as mueb. thï prorince of the city to beautify the estern portioa of the city as the Fifth ward park. That the fountaia was on a public thoroughfare. Aids. Schaffer and Moor-e were the only ones who favored the Immediate adoptiou of the report. The committee on ways and means recommended that John P.
