Rep. A. ,T. Sawyer lias sent the fullowing letter to Col. John Atkinson: "Hon. John Atkinson, Detroit. Midi. - My Dear Colonel: I have been informed that you have prepared a bilí providing for some radical changes in the mantier of taxing railroads and other orations, whieh you ntend to have passed at the approachlng special sea"i"!i of the legislature; that you have poblished a suggestion, or requ-jst, that the Republlcan members of the iegislaturë shall settle the question of the passage of your bill, in caucus; that you have prepared and got the fjovornor t" send to the people a large number of petitions to the legislature, ig fui1 the passage of your corporation tax bill; that the governor i i called upon the various prosecuting officers in the state to proeoi ute for crime of accepting bribes all Uic members of the state legislature uil" have received railroad passes, and that the railroad commissioner has sent a reaue'st to the varlous railroads asking for the name l' all persons to whom they have given passes, and th.it :ill of these matters have been published and eirculated extenslvely thiough the press.
