The special paving committee ae not resting upon their oaio. A meeting- was held last ever.ing and George Gaudy was electtd chairnian. The committee went to wqrk and Uttermined that the council had pojvers under the charter to order pavingr. As there is some difïerences oí' upinlon as to which would be the better - block or brick paving - it was .lecided to have the iierk wrlte to several eitios and ask them as to the relative durabiliiy and satisfaction of the two kinds. AU this Is preliminary work but the c-Minmittee have entered into it wilh zeal and as a majority of the property, or rather frontage owners, have signed (he petition for pavingr it is probable that this improvement ín the malu business street will be accomplished in the near future. It is possiblp also that the antiquated relies of the village life c,f Ypsilanti- the cow-sheds in front of the business houses- will be ordeied taken down and that the telephone and telegraph wii es will be placed under ground. That would look pretty r.ear like the millenium.
