A singular dilemma in which a young Washington lady recently found her;elf is described by the Post of that :ity. The young lady, it should be iremised, is a member of a certain jatriotic society, which lately held an 'open meeting." The woman who had he affair in charge notified each mem )er of the toast she would be expected i o respond to ten days or so before the ! neeting. To one young woaan, vhom, as it happened, she did not ; tnrw personally, she sent the toast, 'Our Flag." The young woman re■eived it, and at once went to cali on ! he head of the society, in a state of ! rreat distress. She simply c'ould not espond to the toast, she said. She üdn't know whether a joke was inended, but she had been chaffed unaercifully about it already, and wouldi't go near the meeting if she were to ie called on to speak on that subject. 'Why. what on earth is wrong with hat subject?" asked the head of the ociety. The pretty young woman hesiïted. She blushed. "Well," she said, 'you see, I'm going to marry a man iamed Flagg."
