The Democrats of this city last evening were as happy as Fighting Bob Evans would be if he eould blow the Spanish torpedo flotilla to Kingdom Come In the flrst naval engagement. The Democrats certainly gained a great victory and when the smoke blew away it was found that D. L. Davis was elected mayor over Dr. L. M. James; also that they had succeeded in electing three out of the flve aldermen, thereby giving them control of the council and consequently will deal out to Democrats only the offices which the aldermen appoint; aiso that they had gained a supervisor by electing Klmer MeCullough over D. L. Ostrander. The foilowing is the vote in detail: MAYOR. First ward- Davis 142, James 202; James' majority 60. Second ward - Davis 81, James 131; James' majority 50 Third ward- Davis 127. James 157; James' majority 30. Fourth ward- Davis 154, .lames 32; Davis's majority 122. Fifth ward- Davis 200, James 105; Davis's majority 95. Davis's majority in the city was 77.
