The admirable mftnner ni wliicn Judge Cooley presided over a late term of court at Adrián called forth encomiums from both bar and jurors. The former presented him with a magniflcent gold-he&ded cane appropriately engraved. This action was prompted by an unanimmis desire to exprese to the recipiënt their warm appreciation of his Lndfatigable labora in the court, and of the strictly impartial and upright manner he liad discharged his duties, and for the ability and learning he liad dis[ played in the consideration of the many grave questions brought before him. The Judge, taken wholly by surprise and overeóme with emotion, made a brief and fitting response. The jurors embodied their praise in the following resolution: Resolved, That during the present term of court, we the jurors have been underdeep and lasting 'obligations to Judge Cooley. His great legal learning, his strict attention to duty, his promptness and impartiality havegreatlyjfacilitated our labors, and lor his uniform eourtesy and kindnessto us as jurymen we shaïl always hoid him ingratefulremembrance.
