One of the most miraculous escapes possible from death, is the case of Michael Jascheck, a resident Of the second "Ward, just bevond Relief Park. On Thursday of last week Michael was, as ís quite rommon to hiiïi, vinder the influence of liquor. Entering the house he struck liis wife who promptly retumed ilie blow. This action appears to have had a depiessing suicidal effect on him, and he thereupon pulled from nis pockei a jackknife, and opening it proceeded to plunge its blade into his body five times, all the cuts being within a radias of three inches from the pit of the stomach. The depth of the gashes varied from three to five inches. Dr. Kapp, who attends him says it is one of the most wonderful escapes from death on record. It so happened that not one of the intestinos were harmed. During the process of probing he bied prof usely. He is now believed to be out of danger. Michael is a day laborer, aged abont 35 and has a wife and three children. He belongs to that large army of mankind, born tired, and perfectly willing his wife shall labor hard to support the lamily.
