At a recent meeting of the Royal Horticultural Society of England, Mr. Bh ir ley Uibberd exhibited a lot of kome-grown water cresses, whieh created considerable interest among the meiubers. The display consisfcea of a series of paus, fiftoen iuches in diameter, each ñlled with a luxurious grovvth of tender crosses. The exhibitor claims that the pan culture of wa'.er cresses may be profltably pursued with the aid of a fï&roo or cool plant house during the severest winter weather. Tlxe Cressos shown were produced in the course of six weeks, and had been daily gathered tor the table, thus showing how rapidly and proliftc they grow. Aocordmg to the testimony of Mr. llibbeid any 0110 may supply his table with this wholesome and delicious salad any time of year without much trouble or expense. Among the advertisements in airollknown Scotch uewspaper this was recently fouiid : ilOh! dogcnerato Charcal is thero within you 110 NehemiaU- no Zerubbabcl, son of Shealteel? Aro we given over boiind to Tatnai and the Apharsachites?" Tlie point of this fervent appeal is said to bo thafc the Established Church should rouse itself up lor a more earnest and detormined itruggle against disestablishment, the tido of ■which at preseat t resists feebly and inelTectually.
