Mr. Editor:- My attention has been enlied to an articïe in the Ann Arbor Democrat of Sept. 23d date in relation to Mr. Charles S. Gregory, as being a candidate for vepresentative of this district and reasons why he should not be nominated, together with slanderous accusations Mr. Gregory does not deserve. The writer of the articleis not well posted as to candidatos. Mr. Gregory lid not want the nomination, and wás not therefore a candidate. ITe will heartily support the worthy gentleman nominated although he is of Irish extraction. I have lmown Mr. Gregory over twentv years and have had large dealings witti him in tlie agsrre.gate.and I never before heard it intimated that he entertained ill-feelingstoward eitner the Dutch or Irish. lie is abanfeeril is trae, and a nioney-lender. So would we all be if' we conld. I havenotheard tliat Air. Gregory ever fore-closed a mortíiage upon whiéh the interest was kept up. There is no use in fnrtherdiscussing the uncalled-for attack n A[r. Gregory for T know him to he not only a ffood democrat but a friend to both Irish and Dutch. Farmer.
