The senior member and principal founder of the synod is Bev. F. Schmid of this city. For many years he has been prevented by his inflrmity to attend to the meetings of the synod. A resolution was passed that on Tfiursday, the 14th, all the present members of the synod, by a common visit, express their deep and heartfelt sympathy to their venerable ana ageü Dromer ui his severe affliction. The following officers were elected: Rev. St. Klingmann, president. Rev. Ch. Eberhardt, vice president. Rev. P. Stamm, secretary. Rev. C. F. Ilaussmann, vLe secretary. Mr. David Haass, Scio, treasurer. Rev. J. Reible, treasurer of Ministers' Mutual Benevolent Society. Divine services were performed Sunday morning and on the evenings of Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and nesday. There was, besides, a special service in commemoration of two events remarkable in the history of the Luthèraii church, namely: the presentatiou of the Angsburg confession, wbich took place A. D. 1530, and the completion of the concordia, i. e., collection of the syrabolical books of the Lutheran church, which took place A D. 1580. We also would make mention of the dedication, for its sacred use, of a new organ in the church in wnicn me synou met. ïhis beautiful instrument does all honor to its maker. Mr. D. Allmendinger, of tuis city, and is worthy of Salem's church, which is,no doubt, one of the fmest strustures in Washtenaw county. The congregations of the synod have, up to this time, been chiefly located in the southern part of the Lower sula. As the settling of the northern counties goes on rapidly, the necessity of extending the field of its labors has been more and more realized. A step in this direction has been taken by passing aresolution to appoint an itinerant missionary, whose duty it will be to visit the numerous Germán Lutherans who are settling in the districts afore-mentioned to provide for their spiritual welfare and to try to gather them iuto congregations.
