Was Killed in a Mine

Fred Ross, Son of Caroline Ross, of This City

Lived For Nine Days

The Fumes of An Explosion Poisoned Him--Five Others Were Killed

Mrs. Caroline Ross, of N. Main street, received word last Friday of the accidental death of her son, Fred Ross, who left here about ten years ago for the west. He was employed in the "Smuggler's" mine in Aricola, Colorado. About two weeks ago a terrific explosion took place in the mine and the fumes had so poisoned his system that death resulted. Although he lingered for nine days before he breathed his last.

There were five or six others killed n the explosion.

Fred Ross was well known to the young men of Ann Arbor, although it has been some time since he was here. He was 31 years of age and a brother of Street Commissioner Ross.
